Service as worship rather than a worship service
Instead of having our normal time of singing and teaching, we are all going to go out into Visalia and serve people as an act of worship to God.  Isaiah 58:6-7 tells us that true worship is caring for the needs of others and that’s what we want to practice on this day. 

We believe that serving others is a way to worship God and demonstrate His love to the world in real and practical ways.  We chose to do it on a Sunday because that is the normal time we worship God.  We also are hoping that through Serve Visalia we will be exposed to places and people in our city that we don’t normally come into contact with and see new opportunities where we can get involved in the future.  This is a project for everyone from infants to seniors.  There are projects that kids can help with, projects that require physical labor and projects that can be done while sitting down.  We want every person to participate in serving our city and worshipping God on this day.
